The Original Chez Núñez • Our Home

Our first home together. My favorite place to come back to. A place that far exceeds what I ever expected would become ours just after getting married. Found at a young, broke, creative stage in our lives - while searching for inspiration in a very suburban/bland region of the state of Florida.

When we were about to get married and first looked around our city (known for it's ridiculously high cost of living) under a painfully low budget - we stumbled across an actual miracle in the form of an old apartment building from the 1920’s. There it was, on Craigslist, in all it’s hidden beauty from the listing photos that looked like they were taken on a potato. So we visited, we fell in love, signed the contract on the spot, and we’ve been renters ever since. There’s nothing like it in the area that we live in, and so I thank God every day for the gift that this place is to us. How it feeds our souls and inspires us on a daily basis.

We called it Chez Núñez when we first started to decorate our place (with Craigslist and roadside furniture, naturally), and kept a hashtag accordingly as a virtual scrapbook (#cheznúnez). The ‘Chez’ part is something that we picked up from our honeymoon trip - a little Portuguese diner in Montreal called Chez Jose. We liked the ring of the name, the meaning of “place” and French influence as it tied to our honeymoon, and thought that 'Chez' sounded even cooler when paired up with 'Núñez' (our last name). So it was named - and so it has inspired a brand beyond and bigger than just myself.

Like my home is my dwelling place, so is this brand, this site. And I hope to be inspired and offer inspiration within it.

NOW. Allow me to show you around my favorite corners of our home!

Welcome!
