How to Make the Most of Your CN Presets
Hey there! If you’re reading this, chances are pretty high that you’ve either already invested in our CN Lightroom Presets and welcomed them into your editing process, OR you’re considering it. Regardless, we’re super excited for you because this means that you’re well aware of the impact and value that beautiful photography can add to a brand’s visual presence.
We love presets around here because of the incredible creative freedom that they bring to the process of editing photos. Unlike a “filter”, which is an edit that simply lays on top of your image, a “preset” integrates itself into the DNA of a photo, offering the chance to fine-tune every color, shadow, highlight, and so on, exactly how YOU want it. Our presets are a great option for effortless, one-click editing - or you can use them as a strong jumping-off point, from which you can truly make them your own in the process of establishing your brand’s unique look + feel.
At Chez Núñez, we’ve spent countless hours lovingly refining all the Lightroom presets you see in our shop. We made them first for ourselves - so that we could create and foster our brand in a way that visually communicates feelings of warmth, nostalgia, and creativity - and then we made them available for our community through our shop. Because at our core, we want to offer you digital goods that save precious time, while encouraging and inspiring your creative process.
As you set out to create beautiful images for your brand, here’s what we recommend to make the most of your Chez Núñez Lightroom Presets:
Always make sure to shoot with a clean lens.
This might sound like a silly and simple place to start, but it matters!
It’s best to do your editing in a well-lit room, with the brightness of your mobile or desktop screen turned all the way up.
This helps ensure that you can get an accurate feel for the finished result of the image.
Natural light is your best friend.
Images that are taken in soft, natural light are going to pair especially well with our presets. Because we take so many photos of our travels, out and about our city, and around our home with the bright diffused light of a window, our presets were designed to best accommodate these types of lighting scenarios.
Every image will look different straight from the camera, so don’t be afraid to play around!
Although all of our Chez Núñez Presets were designed to give you an easy, one-click editing experience, there is a good chance that you’ll need to adjust things like exposure, contrast, or shadows in order to customize the preset to your unique images.
Playing around with the temperature (aka white balance) is a great way to customize the preset to the needs of your image.
When we created our preset bundle no. 1 + 2, Anna’s editing style was nice and warm - but that doesn’t mean yours needs to be as well! If you apply a preset and it’s feeling a little off, try adjusting the temperature panel to cool things down.
RAW images are going to give you the best results!
Our Chez Núñez presets all work well on mobile JPEG images, through the mobile Lightroom App, but we still highly recommend using the presets on RAW images whenever possible. RAW images are full of information that allow for a more flexible editing experience, and often a cleaner final image.
You don’t have to pay for Adobe Lightroom in order to use our presets, the Lightroom mobile app is free!
If you don’t have Adobe Lightroom for Desktop, you can still edit images using all our presets in the FREE Lightroom Mobile app. Personally, we enjoy using a combination of both platforms - editing the majority of our images on desktop, and then fine-tuning colors and brightness in the mobile app to align with the colors of our Instagram feed before posting (because we’re just nuts like that).
We get so excited about the amount of creative freedom and inspiration that a good preset can offer an image and the brand that it serves.
