The New Chez Núñez: Home Tour!
About 3 months ago, in March, Jesús and I made the move to St. Petersburg, FL from Fort Myers, FL! It was a step that we talked about taking since we got married a few years ago, and now that we’re finally here, the two of us are so thankful and glad that we made the move!
With the process of making our way to St. Pete and into a new home, came the transition into a smaller space than the first spot that we called our beloved Chez Núñez. We took it as an opportunity to refine our environment and pair down our belongings to what we truly need and love (thanks for the momentum, Marie Kondo) - all so that we could live near downtown St. Pete in a location that situates us super close to so many fun and beautiful things that our city has to offer.
The process of unpacking, thrift store drop offs, settling in, and then more trips to the thrift store, hasn’t been the easiest, but we’ve arrived at point after these quick three months where things have come together and I’m beginning to find more and more beauty in this new home that we’ve created together.
It’s not our forever space, but I’m planning on enjoying it to it’s fullest potential from now until the next door opens up for us!
In the meantime, please allow me to introduce you to the New Chez Núñez with a brief little home tour that highlights some of my favorite corners and pieces that we’ve picked out.
Welcome to our home!

Jesús and I came up with this open closet concept in our bedroom after realizing that the biggest closet in the apartment would need to become a temporary home to all the music gear and art supplies that once sat in a studio room. We picked out 4 shelves to line the top of the wall, baskets to hold things like pants, pj’s and undergarments, and set up garment wracks to hold our clothes and shoes below! I like how this setup really puts my wardrobe front and center, in a way that causes me to edit and consider what I own on a regular basis. It’s been sweet to notice patterns of what I wear the most, and more easily recognize if a piece is no longer serving me or bringing something joyful to the bedroom as a whole. Perhaps I might still keep somewhat of an open closet even when we have more space one day!
Chair: Thrifted, baby!!
Sofa: Custom
This piece of furniture is especially meaningful to me because it came to life with the effort of several people who are close to Jesús and I. Jesús gave me these flat filing cabinets as a gift last year so that I could utilize them in my fine art practice. The ability to store my works on paper is so helpful! When we were planning to move, we quickly realized that these cabinets wouldn’t fit in our new space unless we could find a creative solution or mixed use purpose for them. I then had the idea for this sectional - a soft and storage for my art wrapped into one piece! Our dear friend, Andy Graham, helped us design and then build it. My grandpa, Nelson, helped Jesús cut and fit the cushions. And my mom, Alisha, sewed the linen covers and pillow cases that would polish everything off! I’m super in love with the way it came together - the look, feel and function is exactly how I imagined. I see this sofa as a blessing every time I use it - a piece that will stick with us for many years and moves to come.
